Overview

Roll-Dek™ is a tough synthetic rubberized sundeck coating that is easily applied with a paint roller. When applied to plywood it becomes an attractive non-skid waterproof surface that is both durable and long lasting.

Capable of standing up against extreme weather conditions- hot or cold Roll-Dek™ remains permanently flexible over many years. By applying Roll-Dek™ it creates two very usable areas — a sundeck that extends your living area outdoors and an area below that is dry and can function as a patio or an enclosed area for storage.

Applications

The most common applications are for sundecks, balconies, walkways, but other areas would be high moisture areas. It also works well for marine applications such as boat decks, boat houses, rubber rafts, kayaks, marine flooring, and docks. It will also fully adhere to above ground concrete, metal, fibreglass and most other rigid surfaces.

WATERPROOF

When you apply the roll-dek system you will be coating the entire surface of the deck with a thick rubber membrane. Because roll-dek and top-cote as made from high grade synthetic rubber it prevents moisture from entering into wood substrate beneath thus protecting and preventing moisture from getting into the wood and rotting it.

LONG-LASTING

Durability is one of roll-dek systems greatest features. Roll-dek and Top-cote have proven themselves over a 35 year period. Millions of square feet have been applied all over North America, from the extreme cold weather conditions of the high arctic to arid weather of the deep south to the rainy weather on Vancouver and Seattle.

LOW MAINTENANCE

Ducan recommends a reapplication of a single coat of top-cote every 3 to 4 years. This will ensure the proper upper surface buildup as it may wear with heavy traffic and high UV, unlike painted or stained wooden decks which require striping, sanding and painting every year. It also eliminates the hazards of wood splinters that can injury your feet since the wood is not exposed.

PERMANENTLY FLEXIBLE

Neoprene and Hypalon rubbers are extremely flexible and are the main ingredients in roll-dek/top-cote system. They will expand, contract and stretch with the surface to which it has been applied on top of.

TOUGHNESS

Sundecks, walkways, balconies can sometimes get more than their fair share of abuse from heavy traffic, show shovels, kids and pets. The sturdiness of the rubbers in the roll-dek/top-cote system and its strong adhesion to the surface make it extremely resist to damage that may cause water leakage below the deck.

NON-SKID SAFETY

Roll-Dek base-cote is manufacture with rubber chips that when applied according to the specification textures the surface with a consistent pebbling effect. This texturing offers excellent non-skid properties, providing sure footing even when wet.

EASY TO KEEP CLEAN
Roll-dek system both have properties that resist mildew and fungus, mild acids and alkaline spills, and successfully repel most stain causing products; including sulfides from acid rain. Ducan recommends cleaning your deck with “the duke “a concentrated all purpose cleaner & degreaser. Dilute it in a pail and scrub the deck with a stiff brissle brush. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes and then rinse well with water. Although it will not harm plants we recommend to spray them down before rinsing of the deck.
